The Miss Portage Lakes Scholarship Program was started in 1997, with the crowning of Paige Hellyer. The program was held at The Coventry High School Theatre.
After a brief hiatus, Jennica McCleary was crowned Miss Portage Lakes in February of 2001, at the Freedom Road Community Centre.
After much debate and careful consideration, the Miss Portage Lakes title evolved into Miss Summit County. Our first Miss Summit County, Amanda Beagle, was crowned on November 10, 2001, as we returned to the beautiful Coventry High School Theatre.
